Sail panel recovery

Well I just bought an ABS covered headliner off of Amazon for like 130 bucks (score!) and it came with about 5 yards of extra headliner material in a giant roll! Easily enough to recover the headliner and sail panels or enough to do the sail panels two or three times.

Anyway, it never occurred to me to recover my sail panels, but while I was installing my headliner, I got to looking at them and thinking "gee these are kinda scraggly looking, I'll recover them while I'm at it"

Here's what it turned into:

While I'm at it, here are some quick pics of the headliner. Installed perfectly without a hitch and I don't notice any sag. Oh yeah, does anyone know if abs sail panels came on an 83? I thought they got cardboard ones

Re: Sail panel recovery

when you buy a new headliner like that,it usually comes with a bolt of fabric to finish your sail panels. They don't tell you that it comes with it,but a reputable dealer would always include that.

Re: Sail panel recovery

I bought a TTop headliner from Classic,so when I did,I had ordered a extra yard of material to do my sail panels and when I opened the box it had two rolls of material in it,1 came with the top and the other was what I had ordered. You would think that they would tell you that, but I didn't ask and they ain't telling you!!!

Re: Sail panel recovery

The abs plastic ones just came on the 1991 / 1992's ... might been 1990 as well however I dont think so.

I recommend anyone recovering theirs get those late model plasic speaker covers, that what I used when I did my 1989 years ago.
