carpet installation

Hi all. I just received a new carpet for my 89 formula. My question is how will differences in the jute backing affect the installation? The new carpet only has padding where you feet sit on the floor, the original has it almost all over the entire carpet. Will this be a problem or should I add backing to the new carpet? Thanks

Re: carpet installation

I would advise adding the Jute or some other type of sound deadning material.
It certainly will help with acoustics. Pic shows a product called "Hush Mat", nice and clean looking when done.

I'm close to replacing carpet also. Let us know how it goes.

Re: carpet installation

Thanks. I've been considering the sound deadener. My main concern is are these aftermarket carpets molded with the original jute backing in mind or will they fit better without it. I just don't want bulges and folds popping up.
