short in wiring?

hi, i'm new i found this site and hope you could all help. I just bought an 83 firebird and it all worked good till i went to put my radio in and he had his connected right to the fuse box through his own wires. i through his out and went back to factory, well i don't know how but when i put fuses back in the spots that were empty and hooked the radio up the courtesy fuse blew with a 20 amp fuse i stuck a 30 in and it worked but now the light doesn't shut off and i'm guessing there is a short i thought i saw smoke from the dash and started tearing it out ( had to change heater core it leaked everywhere and maybe that is the problem). when i hit the orange lights in front not the flip up ones they don't come on any more they used to. and the flippy lights don't go down even if i shut them the motors go up but not down. does anyone have a clue where the wire from the fuse box goes to i'm guessing a lot of stuff but i got to follow it. i checked the cigarette lighter and even unplugged it that didn't work. the stereo is out and i don't want the dash back on till i find the problem.

You my friend, need a service manual.if your going to keep the car,I highly recommend one. They have them used on Ebay low price say about $60.00 and high about $100 or so.You have a multitude of problems with your wiring,to hard to explain on here.maybe someone can shoot you a couple of pages that you can download.
