Hands down the coolest idea I have ever had. My old shifter **** was broken in half and the button didn't work, not a big deal to me, SO I remembered that I had a real (yet deactivated) pineapple grenade, the wires in my brain zapped, and walla! I have a pineapple grenade shifter!
all I did was remove the button, take off the cir-clip, then pulled the **** off. pulled out the blue pole (not sure what it's called) and then i put the grenade on. the great thing, is that the fuse fit perfectly in the left over hole, so it doesn't move. maybe I can even put some sort of spring under the spoon, to act like the original button.
Tell me what ya think!

In this paranoid world, don't be surprised if your car is surrounded by the bomb squad if you leave it parked somewhere. Nobody understands unique things like that anymore.

Well...it's certainly different/interesting! I would be upset if I saw something like that in an otherwise nice/correct car, but I can tell by the photo that it's a driver car.
Thanks guys, I really like it, it kind of makes it mine, you know? I agree, the hoi polloi would never understand... But if the bomb squad ever gets called, I guess I'll take it off... Lol. I see what you mean, I just bought the car and it's pretty beat up. If I were to restore it, I would put an original on, but mine was broken anyways, so I thought, why not?

he has a point, and they typically deal with questionable bomb looking devices by blowing them up with other explosives, so bye bye car.........Originally Posted by 82tarecaro

if they blew up my car for that, i would be Pissed, seeing as they sell chrome grenade shifters in Pep Boys
its definitely unique, i have a few deactivated grenades myself, and im glad to hear you would replace it if you decided to restore the car! that's a working brain for ya

Yeah, it's sad that people are so paranoid these days... I'll take my chances though.
As long as you have a little bit of fab skills, just about nothing is off limits to use!

Not bad at all. So do you just put the whole thing down to act as the button?

Awesome. Now you just need the tank dashboard I just picked up at an auction.
Well, the button never worked anyways, so it doesn't have to be pushed down, but I suppose if your button worked, you could it's trim down the blue stick, so that you could pull it down to shift. I was also playing with the idea of using the spoon as a button (squeezing it)
Tank dashboard? Sounds badass, what is that? I have since removed the grenade to put the original **** on, because I'm doing my interior red and black, and saddly it doesn't match.

Tank Dashboard is exactly what it sounds like. Came out of a tank, probably weighs about 60 LBS, has your usual auto type gauges surrounded by cool looking switches and indicator lights. All original Stewart-Warner gauges in them, probably from the 50's or so.

Looks awesome. Definitely better than those skull shifter ***** that certain people seem to be obsessed with.
Cheers!

I'm an AMMO guy in the military. If your worried about the bomb squad paint it blue and drill a 1/8 or 1/4 inch hole through the center and you'll be good. Blue= Inert/no explosives and the hole shows its been deactivated.

I did this a while ago to my old iroc before it was totaled:
