earlier in the year i shut the hatch without realizing i had a rod (the one iv been using to hold it up) was sitting on the seal. Pulled the hatch down and then it let go of it. My dad and me pulled it all apart saw the gear was missing teeth. He was leaving (military) soon so we didnt fix it right then. Today i pulled the trim off and was messing with it and the motor shot back up i hit the lever to put it back down and it went down and now wont come back up. Is this a short some where or if i rebuild the motor will it work?

 

Did you replace the bad gear?

 

I havnt replaced it. Plan on ordering it this week and replacing it here soon.
