SeatBelts

Hi guys ! I was kind of wondering to swap my seatbelts for a set of 4th gen as they dont retract very good, both front and backseats. Back seat belts are not retractable. I have been searching this forum, and as far as i can tell, it should be a direct swap. BUT, the seatbelts i have in my car right now, dont look like the stock seatbelts i see you guys have in your cars. The retractor is behind the sail panel down besides the back seats. One of the backseat belts seems to be mounted in the same location. I would like some input from you on this one. I´m located in Norway, so i guess it could be they have been swaped because of some leagal issues to get the car approved befor first registration. I have looked at some other Trans Am´s for sale in Norway, and it seems they all have the same seatbelts as i have. Will there be any issues installing 4th gen belts ? Is the retractor for the back seats going to be installed under the seats or behind the sail panel ?

Thanks

Re: SeatBelts

4th gen rear seats are going to have the retractors built into part of the rear hatch trim, so it might be a little difficult to transfer them over.

You're right, your seatbelts look very different from any seatbelts I've ever seen in a third gen. They're either aftermarket, or a weird export-only part.

Re: SeatBelts

You should still be ok for the front seats. The roof structure underneath the headliner is still the same. I just finished installing the fronts myself and it's as simple as unbolting the old and bolting in the new. Not sure on the rear belts though, I haven't tackled them yet. To make the install look clean when you are done, use 82-83 doorsils.
