Re: Arm rest separation
I did a similar restoration to mine a few years back, and it looked really good for a little while. That being said, it started seperating again after about 6 months. Honestly, I feel the early style actually looks BETTER, and have since switched over to the older style. I have a black set and a tan set and I switch 'em out every few months just for a change of pace. The black ones were pulled off an 82 Z in a junkyard. No seperation whatsoever. They're fairly cheap too.

Re: Arm rest separation
My driverside arm rest is starting to do this. I have an idea in mind to fix it since my same idea worked for my center console. I used Seroflex clear chalk to glue my stuff back together. So far, it hold really good. I am window and door contractor and sometimes I use the stuff to glue brick back together so I am pretty sure it will hold vinyl together since I use it on vinyl windows. It comes out of the tube white but drys clear. http://www.siroflexinc.com/duo-sil.php
Re: Arm rest separation
I bought older model replacements, very nice shape, in black before I saw this thread. Since my repair went so well, I'm selling my back-ups to help pay for other repairs to my car. Let me know if someone is looking for a really nice set of these.
