ABS T-Top HeadLiner damage (shipping damage)

I have searched left and right through the forums with very little help. First off, the headliner was damaged while being shipped (no shipping insurance). So hopefully I can get some answers because Ive never dealt with a headliner. So here we go....

1. Is there any mounting clips on the inside? I ask because the headliner i got has none.

2. Could I cut out the section where the crease created a crack and fiberglass the cut out section?

3. Can I heat up the fold towards the front with a heat gun to form it back into shape?

Thanks guys.

I know I read the pm's last night. Do you know who manufactures it ? Maybe they sell the install clips or even hawks. I think you should leave it on folded for a while and order the install clips and try to install it . With the oven you live in might help make the abs conform once its installed and retained.

I would seriously demand a full refund. If you paid through PayPal, file a dispute. If you funded it with a credit card, initiate a chargeback.

Just what TunedPerformanc stated. A front lower spoiler was traded for the Headliner.

Wow that seriously sucks. So you have absolutely nothing to go by? It looks they deliberately folded it in there like that.

Re: ABS T-Top HeadLiner damage (shipping damage)

I left the liner outside today with 102* heat.. It got its shape back, but the damage is done. the section where the dome light is still creased and the fold up towards the front of the liner is permanently bent. So im gonna put my wifes hair dyer to work. Hopefully itll work.

Well my friend who made the deal for me had an extremely hard time to get the guy to send it from the East Coast. My buddy spent atleast 2 weeks to get the guy to send it. I was in no rush but my dude was persistant and desperate because he is a man of his word. So when the shipper stalled over and over agian, i think he just didnt care and sent it as he pleased. But hopefully ill get some good feedback on possible repair methods.

Funny.............Most aftermarket ABS headliners come folded up in a box andstretch out back into shape after unpacking with no ill effects. Was this a old/used piece?I would block it and warm up the creases GENTLY with a heat gun.............
The couple of t-top ABS I have seen and helped install came with NOmounting clips/screws etc.!The h-liner is held in place by the sunvisors, dome light, seat belt towerfiller clip and the rear ceiling piece. We added a couple of those interior trim screws with washers aroundthe t-top opening areas (front, center and rear) because with the tops off the headliner vibrated and shook like crazy so the trim screws securedit pretty good.I wish my buds car was here for pics..................

Yes it was old. I can tell because on the inside, the liver is beggining to seperate from the foam backing. So im gonna have to re-line it. But thats not my issue. My main issue is if I can fix the crack by the crease and remold the huge fold at the front end.

Re: ABS T-Top HeadLiner damage (shipping damage)

Maybe get new material from thirdgenranch, hawks, or 1aauto.
Where the tear is in the abs, use an epoxy or something that will not destroy the abs but
" seal the whole "

Sorry its only. 02cents I can think of

Damn. If you can get those pictures, that would make my day. But dont feel to rushed man. As for the "tower filler clip", whats that? my appologies man. I never had anything on my roof other than the dome light housing. So since you added screws with washers, I assume the t-top H-liner had one of those long overhead consoles.

I would believe so.
The stuff I used on another plastic part came with a decent size piece of nylon screen and was able to sand it.

Chevy86, get some 2x4 or 2x2 scraps from Lowes or Home Depot. The scraps are free. Use the scap wood to block the H-liner when you heat it up. But keep us posted. There may be others that have the same problem.

t-top havoc, believe it or not, I actually used some cut out cardboard with some fabrique that I bought from Walmart. Here are some pictures of the cheap but effective mod...

Yeah bro, Chorizo (cats name) was smelling the liner because i reckon that the PO of the liner had a cat due to the amount of cat hair that was stuck to the fabrique.
