Hi I got a 89 Formula 305 and the center console automatic shifter doesnt light up, Id like to know what needs to be replaced BEFORE i tear it all up if possible so can anyone help me? Its the part that says "1,2 D, OD, N" etc
The "2" is lit up nothing else.

Also, what part do I replace if my ash tray cover doesn't slide properly? will just a new lid do or is it the tray or both?
I have no idea as I haven't seen it completed since my car doesn't have it

 

If I remember right it's just a tiny bulb and a slider type that moves down the channel. Pull the U clip from the front of the shifter ****. Remove the screws in the console and lift it up. You need to be careful with the ash tray as it has a lighter and the glove box should have a light in it too. Make sure you don't crack your radio trim removing the console since the plate curls under it.

 

Their is only one bulb,it sounds like your bulb socket slipped out of the holder and is only illuminating in the one area.

From what I here,their a little tricky trying to install the ashtray lid,you might want to switch the whole console plate.

 

Take it apart maybe and check maybe the springs are out of alignment. Formula plates go for $50 to $90 on ebay so I would look as a replacement as a last resort.
