Switching hvac controls from non ac..to ac unit.
I want to swap out my hvac controls to a ac control unit from another car even though my car does not have ac.I want to use the ac signal wire for another purpose and not put ugly switches all over my dash. How different are the connections between the two units and would it work with my heater properly?

Completely different. You HAVE to switch to all ac controls. The non ac cars use a cable contolled system, ac cars use a vacuum control system . You will have to swap the ENTIRE sytem, depending on the year of your car you will prob need the wiring harness and ECU fom an ac car as well. They even have different ducts as your non ac car has direct intake vents, ac doesn't, and you are missing the mid level ac ducts and vents.
The bright side is that ac parts are common and your factory ac delete parts are worth money, esp the blower housing.

Both cars are an 87,Im not using any ac.Just want to put the hvac control unit in to use the ac turn on signal for stealth switch.I dont need vacuum or any ac parts because Im not using ac.If the sliders for the vent and col-hot can still work thats all I need.Im sure Ill figure something out once I get them side by side.

Yes, you will see that I knw what I'm talking about.
The CONTROLS for the temp and mode are VACCUM controlled on ac cars.
You aren't going to do this so you can have one secret mode position.
There are about a million better ways to have a secret or mystery switch in these cars.
