Re: Dash pad

There aren't any companies producing these. I have one for-sale that's out of a 1988 GTA that I picked up for parts. It will come with a tachometer that was attached to it by the previous owner. The dash pad is in flawless condition... aside for the hole that was drilled through it to mount the tachometer. I'll let it go for $125 or best offer if you're interested.

Re: Dash pad

I see numorous good dash pads. Mainly firebirds. I see them in local junkyards. I go there pretty regular so maybe thats why i always see them. But two months later when i see the same car and same good dash pad. Its cracked. I dont know if its from the sun or people throwing stuff throughout the car.

Re: Dash pad

I contacted OER about their repro dash pads for the 82-84 Birds. They said it was taken off the market for retooling. I am not sure if they did the same for the 85-92 pads.
Apparently there were some quality control issues.
Hopefully they will offer a better product soon.
I did find out that they are made out of urethane as opposed to the originals which had a urethane core and vinyl skin. The OER pads use a self skinning urethane that forms the outer skin as well as the inner core.

Yeah junk yards a bad idea for a dash. I bought one it looked brand new from the junkyard and not even 2wks later it started cracking. So i though well maybe it is just that one. so i went to another junkyard and pulled one and that one lasted about 8mo but it still cracked...

Re: Dash pad

Thanks for the info the junk yards around where I live never have any firebirds. I look around here all the time and never see them. I will be looking next month to find one more than likely. I have four kids to buy Christmas presents for this month so money is a little tight. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone have any experience with the dash pad cover offered by 1A Auto? http://bit.ly/UukBG9

Something like that may be a good alternative.

As far as I know, Camaro and Firebird dash pads are quite different, and from the original post, he's looking for a GTA pad.
