Painting interior trim?

Is it a good idea to paint the interion trim in my car? I'm handy with paint, as well as my dad, i just want to know if it would hurt anything if i did, and what paint to use.

Re: Painting interior trim?

Does anyone know of a good interior paint that I can use? I need to change the color of those big plastic rear cargo screws. I'm looking to do them in sand gray, it's a very light gray. I'm having a hard time finding them it that color. Thanks

SEM interior paint works great, although they do not carry exact interior colors for thirdgens. I used a custom mixed paint. If you read that thread you can find out where to buy it.
It is called dupont Deltron DBI.

To everyone who has responded beyond post 2.......

Mantaguy made a great thread, I contributed an example (with photos in post 206) & another member did as well, in post 247.

There's no need to ask repeat questions; just read through the whole thread to find your answers. Not trying to be a d***, but this site is flooded with duplicate topic threads due to either laziness, or, a lack of willingness to search (ie "will 4th-gen seats fit in my third-gen")?

VHT makes some good stuff as well. I have used the VHT spay dye on a few motorcycle seats and it worked awesome!

Sheesh.....soon to be two years, and still that thread isn`t a sticky!
To the OP, I wouldn`t hesitate to paint/dye my interior plastics all over again. They look like new if done right.

Re: Painting interior trim?

Manta, you gotta post some recent pics of your interior. How is the color holding? Did the graphite "lighten" up any?

Thanks for the info, I tried this stuff I just found on ebay from a guy who sells 80's Grand National parts. It's made by (color bond) and let me tell ya, it works and looks perfect. After I sprayed my cargo screws I sprayed it on a scuffed piece of trim not even the whole part and it just blended right in, it's unreal. It's a little pricey at $22 a can but well worth it. So anyone on here looking for plastic paint might wanna check this stuff out.
