Is there a difference in color? My 85 is undergoing an interior restoration but I'm swapping out the color from red to grey. I've decided that I'm going to go with the 87 door panels from Classic Industries in Charcoal/Dark Grey vinyl. After looking at the carpet kits offered through classic by OER and ACC it seems that the only grey carpet available is dove grey. I would assume that this is not going to match the door panel carpet. I've called and spoke with them but no one can seem to provide any assistance in this matter.

 

AFAIK, the grey is the same on all 1985-92 models. I've installed a TON of used gray interior parts on my '91 from probably dozens of 85-92 cars, and I've never had a problem with the color match.

However, I've looked at replacing carpet before, and I've noticed the same thing (different grays offered these years), so I am wondering this as well.

Most resellers can send you color samples if you request them; that might be your best bet. I recommend removing the front kick panel trim for matching against your original color -- there should be a decent section of carpet under there that has never seen daylight.

 

I think the only Gray for 85 was a Medium Gray,Check 1A for colors,those people at Classic only know what is in the book ,you have to ask for a Manager to get a knowledgeable ans. don't get me wrong,I like doing business with Classic.
