Re: My digital dash swap thread (Pic heavy)

Whoa! That was a big project. I'm probably gonna do a dash swap myself. How hard was it to get the harness out from the dash? I ask because I have a pair of third gens one that I've now decided would be a parts car/donor. The other will be the basis for the project. Long story for another time, but in short because I'll be swapping from auto to manual, and the now parts car was a manual trans car I have all the parts, but the dash is a mismatch to the console. Hence wanting to swap the dash. It is analog to analog so it won't be that bad but you still gotta remove the wiring and re run it through the "new" dash. So if you have any tips or anything on the dash swap and wiring I'd gladly hear them.

Re: My digital dash swap thread (Pic heavy)

I know I am a little late to the party, my car came with a digital dash, but had its own electrical woes. When I fixed them, I upgraded the wiring a little by installing a Body Control Module from a 4th gen car. Not many people do it (I've checked - lol), but its well worth it if you are already messing with the wiring. It gives you subtle changes, but really neat ones, such as Retained accessory power, a better built in door lock relay operating on ground side switching, delayed interior light dimming, and a gm key-less entry/alarm. ... And if you are willing you can even delete the VATS box and the bcm could take over its duties. There are also a couple other minute things, but like I said before, if you are putting in a digital dash, its worth it to go the extra mile.
