Console Clock Second Hand Question

To my surprise I actually found a Camaro console clock at the junkyard. I have it in pieces repairing it, restoring it cosmetically and resurfacing the lens.

I had a question about the second hand for anyone who knows about these clocks. Does it tick or sweep? When I took the clock apart the second hand was bowed upwards like a banana (Unknown to me this was because of sun damage). I figured it was just bent and tried to bend it back straight but it shattered into about 5 different pieces.

I am debating fabricating a second hand for it or running it with just the minute and hour hands.

Re: Console Clock Second Hand Question

It ticks....second hand moves. It should still run fine with the remaining hands however....

Re: Console Clock Second Hand Question

I copied this from a post I made in 2005:

You're in luck. I did some research a while back and found the only source for parts and service for these clocks. Originally made by Wesclox, the entire inventory of parts was purchased by "the Clock Doc" (800)256-5362. Bill is the contact. He may be able to repair yours or sell you a reconditioned one. He also can mill the face of the clock so it looks like new again.

Good luck,

Lon

That's awesome if the guy is still around! Mine doesn't keep the best time...I'll lose about 5 minutes a week.

Re: Console Clock Second Hand Question

Meguair's headlight restorer with sanding pad works pretty well to restore and bring clarity back to the face.
A little squirt of WD-40 to the clock mechanisms keeps it running smooth. Just my 2 cents.

I just used plastic polish I picked up. From Autozone...but I bet the headlight restorer works well too!
