Re: trunk release switch

There is a simple reason why it is discontinued on Hawks Thirdgen and doesn't show up on other sites. GM discontinued the switch several years ago. There is no aftermarket switch. I also used to sell these switches and kick myself for not stocking up on a LOT more before they went discontinued many years ago.

You have two choices: find a new old stock switch if one shows up on eBay and be prepared to pay a LOT for it. Or find a good used switch. Keep your eyes open for someone posting one for sale. Or keep searching those pick-a-part yards for a good used one.

When I find them I'll list it on my web site under Garage Sale items. I currently have a used convertible tonneau release switch for the 1987-89 Camaro or 89-92 Firebird (white labeling on switch).

Good luck with your search.

Please post a direct link to the switch. I see no trunk or hatch release switch listed on Rockauto. I do see they still have 3 of the complete hatch pull-down assemblies available for north of $500.

If you do find one used with good lettering, but the housing is cracked, please take a minute to view a tutorial I made on how to make it work:
