Did you get the harness and air lines for the lumbar support? I have the same seats in grey.

Re: leather 4th gen seats install
i used to have the bone stock mentality too but i just got tired of my old sofa seats and every place i went to wanted an arm and a leg to reupholster them so i just said what the heck and got the 4th gen ones and im happy i did, so much more comfortable and my girlfriend doesn't complain how uncomfortable my car is anymore so thats always a win win lol. I have everything to make the lumbar stuff work but im waiting till i get new center consol and a better looking carpet cuz i didnt feel like tearing up the carpet just to hook the seats up right now.

Re: leather 4th gen seats install
That appears to be the rarer style seat for '95 that has the later style thin headrests. Most '95's that I've seen have the larger headrests (closer to the GTA size).
Don't forget the seatbelt guides...you might still be able to get them new from GM. I got one for my '02 a few years ago at the dealer, was around $5 IIRC.

These are the 1998 - 2002 Trans Am's seat switches:

These are the 1993 - 1997 Trans Am's seat switches... the same as the 1987 - 1992 Trans Am GTA's seats:

Re: leather 4th gen seats install
I was thinking the same thing as well. Those seats look like they were originally from a 1998 - 2002 Trans Am... those model years had the thin headrests. My guess is the person with the '95 got those from a newer LS1 car. The best way to tell is by the style of lumbar control switches the seats have.
I'd agree with you, except for one thing...the seats in GreenieG's car have the separate adjustable lower cushions, which were done away with after 1995. I have seen several other 1993-97 cars with Ultima seats and the thin headrests, but they are few and far between.
Re: leather 4th gen seats install
"Separate adjustable lower cushions"... you mean like the seats in the Trans Am GTA? Yeah, I didn't know the 4th gen cars had that feature. My '97 WS6 certainly doesn't.

Under the upholstery the 87-92 GTA seats are built way better.Whereas the 4th gen only look the same on the outside (minus the headrest).

Re: leather 4th gen seats install
Yep, the earlier ones definitely had them. I remember looking at a low mile 95 T/A with cloth Ultima seats before I bought my 02, and it had them also.
Like 84 1LE says, the 3rd gen versions were much better. The seats basically got less and less features (other than power adjustments) as they "refined" them on 4th gens.

Re: leather 4th gen seats install
Not necessarily...while that is true for all 1987-95 models, most of the 1996-97 ones still had the bigger 4th gen style headrests, but NONE of them had adjustable knee support after 1995.
Re: leather 4th gen seats install
Hmmm... I learned something new about the '93 - '95 Trans Am. I purchased my '97 WS6 brand new and had never been in a 4th gen car prior to mine. It's funny how GM refined the F-body in some ways and then went totally bass-ackwards in others. Anyhoooo... thanks for that small piece of info about the lower seat cushion, guys.

No prob....seems like GM made less and less available as the 4th gen progressed...much like the 3rd gen cars. Sucks, but guess it's just cost cutting.

Re: leather 4th gen seats install
Sure, I mean it's basically a one year only seat in this exact form, and the smaller headrests makes them even more rare (although less desirable IMO). I always kinda thought the smaller headrests cheapened the seats compared to the earlier styles.
As far as the seatbelt guides, the ones for the convertible cars are made so that the belts can slip in and out of the guides for easier backseat access...you can probably get them new at the dealer for cheap if you don't want to cut up the ones you got. Also I would think there's gotta be a way to get yours on the belts without cutting anything...IIRC, when I replaced one in my '02, the headliner-mounted end of the belt came out very easily, and I just slipped the new guide over the belt, then reinstalled that one end of the belt back into the headliner. I want to say it's not as easy on a 3rd gen, but I still think there should be a way to replace the guides without cutting anything.

Re: leather 4th gen seats install
idk I like the smaller headrests cuz i think it makes them look sleaker imo. Yeah Ill look into the guides its just the ones that were with mith the seats are one solid piece and to get the seatbelt in you either got to undo the seat belt or cut them it looks like.

Re: leather 4th gen seats install
yep, i had no problems it took me about 5 minutes a piece to get them in a bolted and stuff, the only difference that stood out was on my 3rd gen back seat there's only one lever to fold the seat down, where as the 4th gen one has two levers, one on each side so one goes unused but that's pretty much it at least for my experience. Its been about 2 weeks now and I'm really enjoying the new seats I highly recommend doing it.

Re: leather 4th gen seats install
Very quick and easy mod, you don't have to be a master mechanic or nothing you just have to be able to use a ratchet and that's it all the bolts are the same size so its not a hassle at all.

The only trick is to find some 4th Gen seats in good condition for a reasonable price!

I'm still shocked at the price you payed....Its cool that your friend helped you out like that and I love the seats especially the headrest. Ive got my eyes out for a nice set of 4th gen. high backs.
