I just installed a new trunk motor because the other one only held it into place without pulling it down. I put the new one in and it works. It pulled the hatch all the way down but even when I put the key in and twist it, it won't open or even make a sound. Any suggestions?
EDIT: The motor and pulldown all work perfectly. With the hatch open and it installed I manually locked the latch and pushed the lever for it to go down. With it still down I could unlock it and release the lever and it would come all the way up. I then did it with the actual trunk hatch and it went down but when I turn the key it only turns about 75% of the way and then feels stuck. If I twist harder it then feels like it breaks free and then I can turn it more than normal until I twist it back to normal position.
Unfortunately I'm really stupid and I put the plastic cover on before closing it and now I have no way to get in.

Quick update: I got the trunk back open by prying off the light cover. I had my dad turn the key as far it could go and then I used a flat head screw driver from the light opening to turn it the rest of the way from little black circle with 2 notches (not sure what it actually is). This released the hood and rose back up.
By using a screw driver I can see that the hood latch ring was too far down into the motor to allow it to release. Is there any way to not make it go so far down? One thing that I saw was the piece on top on my motor just slides back and doesn't stay under the ring. Would it sliding away instead of staying under cause it to go too far?

the whole latch motor mechanism is on 3 slotted holes. You can move any part of it around.

This actually ended up being my downfall. I just got done. The top piece had a part of metal that was sort of catching on the side but I also had it tighten a little too far down. It works now.Originally Posted by InfernalVortex

If anyone reads this and is having problems feel free to contact me as I got to know that thing very well today.

Hey 321 - I think I'm having a similar issue...where trunk motor is pulling lid down too tight making it hard to open with key? Is the latching unit adjusted up/down by turning (unscrewing) the kingping/screw on the motor unit slighty? Having trouble getting mine to exert the correct pull down pressure while still hearing the click that completes the cycle.

I was able to move the ENTIRE piece by loosening the 3 bolts on it. I had mine down too far so I re tightened it a little higher up and didn't give me anymore problems. Originally Posted by DTHudson

The only thing that might relate is the black lever on the back close to the top. If you hold it down it'll pull down manually but once it goes all the way down it go back to the top automatically.
Hopefully that helps. If not, just let me know.
