how do you take off the Inner Door Panel Top Rails

How do you take off the Inner Door Panel Top Rails with out breaking them?

thought those came off with the whole door panel?? i've had mine off several times and always come off in one piece. i always lift and tilt the panel towards the window, pull up and the clips release

If im not mistake the window should be rolled all the way down in order for them to come out

They are supposed to come off with the rest of the door panel. Like many others (myself included) that didn't know beforehand, tcrisp has torn the mounting points for them off of the door panel, leaving just the top black trim part.

will the door panel still stay on now sense they are torn at the top . If not how do i fix it.

If you tore the door panel away from the top rail you can refasten
it.
Remove the top panel by lifting it up and sliding it forward or
backwards to release it from the holding clips................
Since you ripped the panel from the top rail..........
Get a pop rivet gun and a small drill bit.

You should be able to slide the panel into place in the top rail.
Drill several holes in the HIDDEN area of the top panel and
door panel and pop rivet them together.
If done correctly you won't see the pop rivets...........

I did this on my 84 as the PO tore the panel off the top rail.
