hvac controls
is it possible to replace the hvac controls on an 88 camaro with some kind of newer controls? just curious. do they make converter kits or mounting/wiring kits like they do for head units/stereos?

I'm guessing you'd want to somehow retrofit it to electronic, automatically regulated controls like newer luxury cars. IIRC, electronic systems use a lot more mix motors/temperature control doors and other electronic parts inside the dash. If you had an unlimited budget, anything's possible; but, you'd likely spend thousands trying to fabricate a system like that.

from taking apart my 1994 grand prix's entire dash console, it appears that it would be similar to swapping out to an after market stereo, just there is nobody selling mounting and wiring kits, so you would ahve to find one that fits demension wise and also figure out wire by wire what is what, and splice it all in. it would be interesting

There's nothing "electrical" on your third gen to convert to, except for the blow motor control. Modes and temperature are controlled by VACCUUM operated actuators in older model vehicles. In newer vehicles they are controlled by electrical actuators the move the mode and mix doors around

I came across this link and wondering if this could work in our cars. What do you think?

I see absolutely no benefit in retrofitting a system like that. A tremendous amount of work for no reason. Those older digital control heads suck anyway.
