How to add a cig lighter to shifter plate
My Bird did not have a cig lighter anywhere but the connector for it was down there in the console = strange. Anyways i added my own. I had a like new cig lighter and wiring harness i snagged from a pull n save a few years ago out of a mid 90's (i think) ford taurus or tempo. The bulbs are standard 194's.
The old shift plate and the lighter socket n harness:

I used a 1 1/8" = 29mm hole saw and drilled/sawed a hole next to the shift pattern thingy:

The cig socket ended up fitting into the shift plate a little loose to where that blue ring would not sit or tighten down flush so i ended up having the gorilla glue it in place. I should have used a 28mm hole saw, oh well, anyways Heres how it came out:

There was a lot of wiring under me shift plate in the console area that was not hooked up to anything, but i found what wires i needed to tap into.
Ok, there old cig lighter wires are the org and blk - org= pos+, and blk is the Neg - .
The orange went to the blue/wht wire on ford cig lighter and blk to blk for neg .

The blu/red from the ford lighter is for illumination.
For the illumination this is the connector you need to tap into:
The brown and the grey wire is the illumination wires, so when you turn on park/headlights the bulb for that blue ring lights up. Mine is a bit dim to completely light up the whole blue ring so i may upgrade to a wht or blue led bulb.

On a side note, I noticed your gear pattern label was touched up. You can get a brand new one here for under 10 bucks:
