wet camaro

I have 86 camaro water came up half way up the wheels for about 3 hours from a creek. The interior has a water mark a little above the bottom of the front seat. About 4in. in the interior from the carpet. Full coverage, insurance company it´s salvage to them.My question is a salvage title worth it. Or should I start with a new 3rd gen camaro. It starts and drives new front wheel bearings tomorrow. Tear out the interior new seats new carpet new door panels new pad will it be worth it. Is a camaro with a salvage title restored worth as much as a clear title camaro. thanks

Re: wet camaro

so will ohio, and in enough time you can have it inspected and changed to a regular one, is it worth it? depends on whether or not you plan to keep it or sell itsomeday

Re: wet camaro

If you are going to build/repair it and keep it, why not? As long as you know the history, and it is worth it to you go for it.
BUT, if you have any plans on ever selling it, don't.

Re: wet camaro

Will they give you anything without going full total? Like can you ask them to knock a little off the settlement and you keep the car without it going salvage? I have no idea if insurance companies can do that but it doesn't hurt to ask and you get to keep your clean title.

Re: wet camaro

I think I will keep it and get a salvage title, I drove it back from the interior repair shop and I don't smell anything. The water came up and went down pretty quick. They gave me an estimate for labor, not parts, door panels, pull up old carpet and pad, replace foam and seat covers front and back, carpet in the cargo area. 1800$ is that price ok? 1200$ for parts from Classic Ind.

Re: wet camaro

I would rather not file a claim & keep the clean title. Then just buy the parts myself to replace.Would cost alot less than $1200, let alone $1800!

That little water in the interior is no reason to write off the car, especially if its driving fine.No electrical issues either, i assume?

Re: wet camaro

Please listen to 84 1LE a salvage title is a scarlet letter nobody wants on their title. And $1800 if you do it yourself is a huge amount of money for a new interior that you could buy all of it on the net and have the pride of doing it your self. But please research sites you are interested in buying from cause theres bad ones out there. Have fun cause I am doing the same thing minus the water damage. ....just a car I came across that would thank me if it could. Im tired ok I see you want to go through classic um if you have shopped around and are set on them ask them for a package deal......maybe knock off a hundred or so. ....couldnt hurt to ask.
