another hatch pull down problem (with pic)
Hatch doesn't pull down/lock closed. Looks like it's already in the down position. So, would this be a bad reverse switch?
And are these things supposed to get filthy? Car was a daily driver for about 14 years...

What happens when you turn the key to 'open' it? Does the pull down rise up? It's hard to tell from the pic but it's likely you need new guides. top-downsolutions.com has a set and they worked well for me. Just have to clean it and try it. Key should make it go up and pressing the little switch in opening should make it pull down. At the end of each travel you should hear a distinct click as the reversing switch is flipped.

Key turn will unlatch it, nothing else. A screwdriver in the latch will secure it, but no noise or movement.

Fuse? Is there power at the motor? Have to start checking the wires etc.
