4thgen ignition lock cylinder swap?
About a year ago I replaced my aging ignition lock with a parts store lock. Short story is it sucks. I can start the car without keys and/or pull the keys with the engine running. Total POS. I prefer the locks installed in a 4thgen, they have the lock button (for manual trans cars) and feel much stronger and more solid. Will they fit thirdgens?

Did you ever find out if the 4th gen ignition cylinder will work in a thirdgen column?

I may have found the answer, looking at Rockauto interchange guide, anything with VATS is interchangeable, so look for ACDELCO D1456C click on the part number it will show that it is good for '89+ camaros and '88+'birds, which leads me to believe the mounting points are the same, its just a VATS issue.
i might be adding this to my list for the winter.

Ignition locks are the exact same. Lock wise the only thing that changed was the door locks. They went from code D to H. Really what that mean is that the grooves are different.

thanks alex,
any idea if the 4th gen lock cylinder for a manual car will work as a replacement for the lock cylinder and lever in the 3rd gen?

It should. Ignition locks did not change in firebirds from 89-2002
As far as door locks, I'm not sure, but can't see why not.
