reverse switch on trunk pull down

Where is the reverse switch located on the trunk pull down mechanism?

Re: reverse switch on trunk pull down

Just above the motor/gear housing, behind the rod/bolt that pulls the mechanism down. I just rebuilt my pull-down unit in my 1990 RS. Spent $75 on parts from Hawk's, but did not replace the reversing switch. Check it before you buy a replacement. They don't make them anymore, and I could only find used or rebuilt ones. I was going to go ahead and replace it while mine was apart, but since it worked OK and there were no new ones, I decided to leave the existing one in. It's hard to see it when the pull-down unit is intact and installed in the car.

Thanks. I just rebuilt mine also. Didn't pay much attention to the switch whem I had it apart. I installed it all back in the car but I get nothing. Nothing moves. Stuck in the down position. Rebuilt it with new motor, new housing, new gear, and new guides. Got power going to it. I just wanted to see if that switch made a difference.

Sometimes the lever in the switch that tells the relay whether the hatch is closed or not breaks off. It's the small switch that screws to the latch mech on top. It would normally be in the up position when that happens, but something to check.
