Stock 84 z28 speedo?
hey gents, just cruising the interwebs and i came across a strange "all original" 84 z28 with a 140 mph speedo. Can anyone tell me more about this? thanks!

Got one on my 84z.I read somewhere these were Gale Banks units.I think they added the logo & sold them with some turbo kit or sommit like that.

Note that there are several differences between the 140 Z28 after market speedo head and the OE 145 GM.

the z28 logo 140 speedo was a GM dealer parts item for"off road use only"

My '84 has that speedo. I'm the second owner but know the first owner well. He ordered the car new and had the dealer swap out the original dual needle speedo for this one. Said it was unique because the trip odometer reset was to the left, not bottom center...the had to order new clear plastic cover for instrument cluster to accommodate difference in trip odometer reset pin.
He also mentioned this is what the '82 pace cars had.

if anyones got one that they want to sell or knows someone who does ill be more than happy to purchase it! Also, what would have to be dont to the transmission if going from a 85mph speedo to a 140 or 145

thirdgen ranch had the "Z28" logo speedo(w/ the rest of the cluster) for sale a few weeks back, it may have already been snatched up though
