Slow moving side window

The passenger electric window moves very slowly (up and down) in my 1988 GTA. Before I go replacing the motor, does anyone know if the motor is the likely cause or how to identify the true cause?

Re: Slow moving side window

I just replaced a window motor in my sisters 97 Honda Accord and even with the new motor it was slow.
It turned out to be dirt in the channel that the window was sliding in. It was a small motor and could not take the extra lode well.

Re: Slow moving side window

Thank you Ron. I saw a YouTube video suggesting putting silicone lubricant on the window side trim rubber. But this was on a car (non Firebird/Camaro) that had a full window frame. Maybe it is something as simple as that.

Re: Slow moving side window

There is a tiny hole (service port) above the connector. You cant see it unless the motor is off the door.I sprayed brake cleaner while working the window up/dn.Bend the red straw into an L shape & stick it in the port hole.Speeds up the window real good. How long it last depends on how dirty the inside is.

There's probably alot of gunk in the motor, brk cleaner just softened it up.Most of the brk cleaner pours out the port.So have a rag under it to catch all the ch!t.

Re: Slow moving side window

Thanks again Mantaguy. I was concerned the motor would burn out when you least want it to (down).

Re: Slow moving side window

Thanks 84 1LE. If I take the door apart and motor off, I'll be prepared for your solution.
