Re: Firebird Steering Wheel Info
Nah, that infos not right. This one could be from an 88-89 model.
They all had the inflatable restraint beginning 1990.
Ah, I see. Other Pontiacs had this type of steering up to at least 1992.
Just the Firebird did not.

On the firebird that style was 88-89 only. Never seen a leather covered one, maybe it wasn't available on firebirds?

I've got a leather wheel in that style,... it was pulled from an 88 Trans Am.

Nope,... the only horn I've ever seen on this type is like the one pictured.

Re: Firebird Steering Wheel Info
The ones I pulled all had the three piece as well.
If they used that wheel in other cars, maybe it was for a car that used it 90 or later. The third gens got the airbag wheel in 90 so maybe the non airbag cars (or trucks?) used that when they decided the thread piece was junk.(it is, rediculously fragile for something you would likely press hard on)

Claimed to be off a 85-89 Firebird - that's why I'm asking, as I haven't seen a Firebird yet with that horn button - but it's mine.
And will go on the wheel above.UPDATED - found it - 91-93 Grand Prix

Re: Firebird Steering Wheel Info
That makes sense, GP's had those stupid in-door automatic seatbelts, so they met the 1990-93 driver's airbag or automatic seatbelt requirements. Requirements changed in 1994, all passenger cars sold in the U.S. had to have both a driver and passenger airbag from then on.

Interesting info, didn't know the gps had auto belts.
Does that mean that some gps had the radio control wheel after 89 as well?
