Manual Trunk Latch: Hatch Now Rattles

Hey guys,
I modified my electric hatch pull down to manual by removing the motor and putting a bolt through the two plates as is popular. The problem is now the hatch makes all kinds of noise going over even the smallest bump. I think this is because the trunk cant be fully pulled down as with the motor. Any way to remedy this?
Thanks
Bill

If you just bolted the two parts of the motor brackets together, you should still be able to adjust the whole unit down some to tighten it up. The three mounting holes have room for adjustment.

Also make sure your rubber bump stops on the deck lid are adjusted properly.
That way you can remove some lash between the components and get a tight fit.

It can be a pain, with both the stock hatch and notchback only way I could get it right was I put two bolts through the track, welded on nuts, into the sliders, so I could close the hatch n latch it, put weight on it to seal how I wanted, then horse them down crawllin into back with ratchet.
