89 cable speedometer
89 cable speedometer
Ok ive read through just about every post on the topic and im lost. I am on my second 115 mph speedo and this one is starting to get bouncy and lose reading at speed over 65. My old one started making a grinding sound and stopped reading all together. Anyways the cable driven speedos can they be swapped for a higher one for example a 145 cable from a 86 - 89, without changing other parts. I mean just the Speedo not the cluster. Or do I need to change the gear in the trans ect and so on. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Check the following link for cable-driven speedo issues:

Unless changes have been made to the car, say a different geared rear, you can simply swap speedo heads.

Nah I haven't done any gear changes to her. Thanks for answering I was lost l. The 145s are alot easier to find than the 115s. I can get a refurbished 145 then I don't have to worry about it breaking again. Right now I cant house around without having it freak out and im worried about It breaking like the last one did
