advice needed for dash pad removal to change speakers
Just bought my first gen 3, an 82 z with 47000 miles. Looking to upgrade the audio system and want to take off the dash pad. Any precautions i should take to avoid doing damage?
Any advice on what speakers work in the dash? seems 4x6 are less than ideal but i dont want to install pods.
Thanks for the help.

Re: advice needed for dash pad removal to change speakers
The dash pad is pretty easy to take off, just remove all the screws, I usually tilt the steering wheel down to get a little more room, and it should just pull out.
4x6's or a little 4 inch is about all you can put in there. There just isn't much room, so you're not going to get much out of anything you put in there. Even if you could put something bigger, anything that produces more bass I have a feeling would cause the dash to rattle like crazy.

Yup there are like four hex screws under the dash and then three or four Phillips screws by the defroster vent. After those are out the dash just slips out.
