Hey everyone,

I'm currently in the process of a complete rebuild and right now I'm just looking ahead for parts that I'll need while I strip the car. I want to keep A/C because it gets hot in Kansas and T-Tops just aren't sufficient for cooling after work... so I am trying to find parts to rebuild the "Heater Box"... is that what its called?

I have been trying to looking everywhere for either replacement blend doors, because the foam is gone and the doors are rusted and moldy. Or even a complete Heater Box that goes under the dash.

I have the shop manual for my 92 Camaro, but its not any help in finding parts... I've scoured it for what might be alternate part names, but no luck.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

 

i have a whole dash. i can look to see whats still attached if that helps. its out of the car

 

I cleaned mine up (stripped old foam, rust, mold, mouse droppings...), repainted them and used stick on foam weatherstrip to replace the foam. Worked good.

Unless someone has some NOS items anything you find will likely be in similar shape.

 

I didn't think about using foam weatherstripping to replace the foam. I actually have some of that on hand from when I fixed my toolbox, so I might just go that route.

Everything worked when I took it out of the car and its still together so that sounds like the best plan.

I have looked for a re-seal kit for the under dash A/C box to no avail... nothing. 3M foam strips it will be.

 

I actually just found a breakdown of the assembly by following a link in another thread (https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...-assembly.html) and it has part numbers and everything listed... all of which are discontinued

The blend doors are actually called "Flaps" (really technical term) or "Valves"... which is why a search for 92 Camaro Blend Door resulted in crap.
