Looking for the perfect floor mats.

Hi,

I have some really nice Lloyd's mats from about 10years ago. I am changing the color of my interior and will need new mats. I would re-order the Lloyds mats but they no longer offer the IROC logo and their passenger side mat is not molded to match the floor and fits crappy. On the upside, LLoyds mats have the much nicer fabric edging vs vinyl edging and they offer the rear hatch mat.

ACC mats are molded but use the crappy vinyl edging.

What I am looking for in order of importance:

1. molded on passenger side
2. super plush fabric (essex, etc...)
3. fabric edging

Bonus would include:
4. availability of hatch mat
5. IROC logo

Anybody aware of such an option?

If not, does anybody know of a business that does the following in low quantities?

1. fabric edging (I can always order ACC mats and have them re-edged)
2. custom flat mats (for hatch area, i provide material and dimensions)
3. custom embroidery

For reference, vinyl edging:

and fabric edging:

Re: Looking for the perfect floor mats.

Did Lloyds change something about the mats? I bought a brand new set for my bird about a year or two ago. The passenger side was molded to perfection, I couldn't believe the fit. My Iroc also had a set in it, and the passenger side was also molded properly. Though I'm unsure of how old they were. I couldn't have been happier with either set, and I'm a picky bastard.

Hmmm. My Lloyds set is about 10 years old and are not molded. I have seen a supposed Lloyds set from a few years ago where they are not molded but have a slit on the passenger side mat that makes them fit better. I contacted Lloyds and they swear up and down that their mats have never been molded or have the slit. I tried so hard to spend money with them, but they just wouldn't let me.

Here is jo88ta's picture of his mats that he says are Lloyd's. This is from 2010.

You got me thinking, so i actually went out to my car to look. They told you not only are they not molded, the slit isn't there either? They seem to be molded, otherwise I cannot see a way for them to fit over the cat hump, regardless of the slit.

Nowhere,

Thank you for following up on this. It looks like yours is both slitted and molded. I'll post some pictures a little later how mine look.

When did you order these?

Happy to help. Looks like I ordered them in July of 2013, through Summit.

Re: Looking for the perfect floor mats.

I recall settling for standard "Firebird" script on mine. I don't promote the Firechicken, nor am I against it. I would have preferred "Formula" but I do like the Lloyds mats and the keepers. No issues with fitment at all. I had to use 4th gen brackets to keep the seats low so the slider bar is tight against the mat, but the seats don't get moved around much.

Hey Brian, how are things with you?

It looks like from your picture that your Lloyd's mats have the slit? If its not too much trouble, could you check to see if your mats are molded as well?

Also, when did you purchase your mats?

Thanks,

John

Re: Looking for the perfect floor mats.

I don't recall them being molded, but they fit very well. I hate mats that move around - that's what causes the rips & tears. After a few heat cycles in the cabin, I imagine they mold themselves.
Mine did not color match, but I suspect the ACC carpet (too much bluing in the dye?), NOT Lloyds. With all the foot traffic, I don't think they would ever completely match over time, anyway. Till next week, these are the only other pics.

Re: Looking for the perfect floor mats.

Seats are Corbeau TRS and I purchased xtra hide to do the backs and some more interior detail along the way:
The TRS racing seat is one of our most aggressive reclining seats. Its high thigh bolsters along with tight kidney and shoulder bolsters allow for an extremely supportive drive with hardly any body shifting. What makes this seat unique is its aggressive shoulder bolsters. When you put your hands up on the steering wheel that naturally pulls your shoulders forward. The aggressive shoulder bolsters are designed to still support your shoulders while your hands are on the wheel. If you don't typically drive with both hands on the wheel, the shoulder bolsters can be overly aggressive, especially if you have broad shoulders. The TRS racing seat is available in Cloth, Microsuede, and 100% black Leather materials. As a rule of thumb, the TRS will fit up to a 38-inch waist, while the TRS Wide will fit up to a 42-inch waist.

poor lighting pic of rear seats are when new. The leather shrank to fit perfectly.

Re: Looking for the perfect floor mats.

Well I ended up ordering the ACC mats along with new molded carpet. I'll see about embroidery locally. If it doesn't pan out, I might try the Lloyds mats again. It seems like their fitment is better than 10 years ago.

Re: Looking for the perfect floor mats.

ACC mats are here and they look fine. I would not say the ESSEX mats are "super plush" but they are in line with modern cars. I imagine the non-essex mats might be a bit sparse.

Corbeau TRS are awesome. Got the idea from http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/pa...s-Formula.html. The back seats were custom refurbished by local guy. I ordered fabric from Corbeau. Also Lloyds Mats front and back. The color matches well if not in direct sun. Otherwise, the bluish from factory dove grey does not match well with the Lloyds light gray.

Keep on customizing

Never had heard of molded/slit mats. Thought it was OEM or nothing. Now I'm interested!

Where do you find such sexyness?

These are Lloyds Velourtex VT020. Not molded. Not sure if they are what I wanted.
