Any other seats fit into thirdgens?

Hey guys,

My seats are pretty tattered and horrible looking, and upholstering will be pretty expensive, as would a set of OEM seatcovers, so I was wondering if there's any other seats that would be bolt ins for the thirdgens?
In Australia, there's not much of a selection of third/4th gen parts, seems to be a lot of 2nd gen though, but GM usually try to resuse everything so I'm wondering if the commodore range of seats may fit?

Anyone tried or tested any other seats?

See this post:

Some people put on 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO (Holden Monaro) front seats with some modification.

Cool, I'll check it out.
I'm assuming Monaro and commodore would be similar/same bolt pattern so might be cheaper to go commodore than Monaro.

What about rear seats?

I'm not sure about the rear seats from what I read. Just do a further search on here on "GTO seats"

Re: Any other seats fit into thirdgens?

Years ago, I put mid 80's toyota celica seats into a third gen camaro.

I just bought a parts car that has what I think are second gen seats in it.

Here's a couple pictures of the parts car seats.

I put seats from a Pontiac Sunfire in one of mine. Not the nicest seats, but looked better than torn stock ones. If you grab a set from a 2 door they'll even flip forward properly. One thing that was nice is that the seat tracks bolt right up and it's a total bolt in affair.

Fiero, S10, Cavalier, G-body seats will bolt to the third gen seat tracks. Everything else, AFAIK requires modfication.

Regarding Commodore saloon seats versus Monaro coupe seats, I would assume the Commodore seats wouldn't flip forward properly for rear seat access.

Re: Any other seats fit into thirdgens?

I put seats from a Honda Prelude in mine, had to fab some seat mount adapters out of flat stock but it was pretty simple.

Which is a legal requirement for Australia, No rear seat access means ditching the rear seat or getting a pair of seats that flip forward to allow access.
Hence why monaro seats work but commodore don't.
