Best Way to Protect Dash Pad??

hi - dash pad on my new to me 89 TA is perfect-been garaged...I plan to drive this car, but still garage it. What is best way in your opinion to protect the dash pad from splitting.cracking?? I see various "covers" from cloth to plastic...any worth considering? or, proper care with quality lubricants like Mothers/Maquires, etc better approach?
Thx!

I'd put a cover over it if it's sitting in the sun, and I would not drive it over uneven ground on cold winter days.

Remove it as few times as possible. If you have to remove it to get to something, might as well do all you can under it while it is off. When installing it back, DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN screws and bolts. In fact, hand tighten only if possible, don't use a ratchet.

Re: Best Way to Protect Dash Pad??

Even with a cover I wrapped the corners with black felt. I loosened the screws on the corners enough to make a nice fold and pushed the corners of the felt in there. Actually came out pretty nice.

My car has been my DD for 10 years now and the pad is still pristine.
The weather here is not extreme though.

You can see were the corners are wrapped in the bottom two photos.
