Hi, I've recently picked up a 87 z28 and I noticed a wire with a connector on it leading to the rear view mirror but there is no where for it to plug it into. I've tried searching the net for this but ain't had any luck. I hope this is posted in the right section.

Does anyone know what this is for?

 

Many non base third gens came with mirrors that have a map and reading light with a switch included. Sounds like that was replaced with a plain mirror for who knows what reason?? That's what the plug is for. They came with two different plugs, a three pin or a four pin I believe

 

Thanks for the reply. I'll try to see if I can find a mirror that was supposed to be in it. This is my 5th Camaro but first 3rd gen Ive had. All the ones I had before were 2nd gens.

 

If you want to go used, I've got e few clean ones with either plug on it. Not way too hard to find if you have any good JYs around. LMK
