Made a few small parts. Armrest screw-cover oval and doorhandle round version. Printed them for my GTA, dont know if they are correct for other models. Will make more parts, these were just my first trials, but fit perfect.

How about making screw hole covers for 1990-92 Firebird door panel cupholders? These morons on eBay are getting $25/ea for them, and I could use one for the passenger's side.

 

If nobody has made a central website for 3d printed car parts, I should probably jump on that. You should be able to load up a site, type in a part #, and download the 3d file.

 

There are several 3d-print sites whereto download stuff, but not much car-related. The only thing I found was a aldl-port cover, which I needed, printet and painted flat black. Looks perfect!

The cupholder screw-cover is definately doable, but one would need an original to get all the measurements from. Also Im new at this, have only had a 3d-printer for a couple of weeks, so I dont know how to get that texture exact.
Would probably work with wrinkle-paint.
My son knows how to "sculpt" 3d, so he will have to teach me
Yeah i checked it on Ebay...25usd for a tiny piece of plastic Gives me the impression that investing 399usd in a 3-d printer was not a bad idea.(I live in Sweden, so would probably have to pay even more for a screw-cover.

maybe there could be a thread here where one could post 3d-files for parts.

 

Seat track cover. Havent printed this one yet. Its not perfect, will probably need some sanding to make the corners a little rounder.

 

Awesome to see someone doing this. I'm a 3D modeler and 3D printer as well. I recently modeled and printed a oil cooler fan blade for my dad's conquest. I'm about to dive into the rear hatch motor pull down unit...mine doesn't work 92 RS camaro ..if I find that some bushings are old or broken while I'm in there...I'll make and print new ones I just recently got my father's 92 camaro that I have so many memories in, he recently passed and left it to me. I'm going through it and restoring anything and fixing anything that needs done. I may end up modeling and printing a few parts if I come across them. If I do, I'll be sure to put the files up here.

 

Yes You should print those bushings instead of buying them. I bought them, cnc-machined....They were an awful fit, had to sand them down. Being a former cnc-instructor I cant believe how rough the surface was. Real amateur stuff. Now its just to try to stop everyone from slamming the hatch closed..
Nylon would probably be good for these.

Fuel injection emblem inlays for doorhandles. Made it hollow with a separate backside. Then I can paint the outside black and the seperate backside gold or silver. Then glue.
Havent printed this yet, so check the fit before printing, but should fit.

 

New stl-file for fuel injection enblem. This one works but Im not sure about the proportions. Printing now, will test on car after that.

 

Be careful. lots of people try to do a good deed and set up a thread or website, that website then gets a lot of traffic and GM shuts em down. Patent infringement, cease and desist. If GM makes and sells it and you are distributing it for free or getting lots of hits it won't last long. There is a popular and good GM book on hot rodding the 2.0 ecotec that you used to be able to find and download online-not anymore, dead websites.

I thought the GM price for badges was outrageous so I made my own badges on a 3d printer, I researched and it seems that no one cares about personal use, its the whole distribution and even further the profiteering of it that companies have a problem with.

 

a great part to consider is the vacuum valve clip(the one that will stop the hissing from your a/c controller)....If you have the original, it would be a big seller.....

 

Did you ever find any 3d models for these? I need to replace all of them, but haven't been able to find any STLs for these. Hoping someone has created these for print.

 

If you end up not being able to find them, I can help throw some together if you send over the measurements.

You can always just measure the hole they need to go into. If you can take a straight down picture of it with a known reference in frame, that will help too.
