Hatch Pulldown Motor Question

Hi,

I have a 1991 Pontiac Firebird.

We have tested the rear motor manually and it working. We had a blown 15Amp fuse and have replaced this, and now when we are getting a 'click' in the relay when we depress the black plastic leaver. However the mechanism is not moving up/down.
Also when trying to close the lid the strange metal bolt highlighted prevents the boot from closing. What is the function of this 'spring'? Why is it closed blocking the boot from closing? How do i get it to 'reset' or go up?

Any help would be really appreciated,

Thanks
Mike

Re: Hatch Pulldown Motor Question

not sure what the metal thing is, but make sure your latch is adjusted correctly. If it is not in proper position, your hatch will not close. The latch will slide forward and backwards, toward front and back of car. Make sure its centered so everything lines up.
