3rd gen custom door panel

Hi there. New to this site, but have been creeping it. I have been doing some custom work on my 91 formula and this is what I come up with using parts from a 09 g6 and a 4th gen firebird for door panels so far. Whacha think?

Top left corner looks like there will be a big gap? Is there a plan to cover that? Otherwise it looks promising.

Re: 3rd gen custom door panel

I'm going to be using some new weather stripping for the top left. I test fitted with the chunk from the old weather stripping trimmed down a little , it seemed to fill it. Other than that I am debating whether or not to wrap the door card in black carbon fiber vinyl or wrap it in leather

Leather. Use the CF as an accent if you like it.

Agreed, use leather to cover it. The panel that you have, is it that hard foam or the heavy duty vinyl cardboard sign material stuff?

The panel is vinyl. I picked it up from Home Depot.

Same here. I'm making my own right now also but mine will be more traditional hot rod style than your path. Blind pleats on the top and carpet on the bottom.

Re: 3rd gen custom door panel

Nice idea. I also wanted to do a dash swap with a 4th gen dash, but after the work I put into my cars dash, switching it to led and fixing some wiring issues it had, I think I would rather keep it.
I have also been looking into ideas for a custom center console

Re: 3rd gen custom door panel

I think the firebirds lend themselves to making from scratch a center console more easily than the Camaros. If you did a 4th gen dash I would just keep the 4th gen center console. I tried making my own center console but found that the only way to do it would be to weld a skeleton or frame out of metal and then attach panels to it.

Re: 3rd gen custom door panel

I have some new door panels as well that go to..(from what I heard..an 88 Camaro Sport Coupe)..and I wanted to install them in my Iroc Z. problem is, they have a cut out for adjustable manual windows, and mine are automatic. will they be able to work or not?

Re: 3rd gen custom door panel

Way too many rounded corners, matches nothing in a boxy third gen interior.
