Headliner Replacement?

Headliner Replacement?
Need to replace my headliner, I have heard mixed reviews about ACME headliners (sagging in the front due to no clips being the biggest) I spoke with an upholstery place near by and they said they use Classic Industries and have never had any issues with sagging.
Any advice on where to get one from, and is there fix for the ACME ones?
Should I go uncovered and paint it, or just go with the covered?

I went to Joann fabrics, spent $20 on 1 2/3 yards (I have T-tops, would still be enough for a coupe). Bought some contact cement and the foam brushes. Worked pretty good, and looks pretty good. If the backing isn't bad on your headliner you don't need to replace it. When I folded over the side, I used strips of cardboard and binder clips to hold it in place. It only takes maybe an hour to do and another hour to dry. Just be sure to get as much of the old dry and flaky adhesive off before you try to put new stuff on.
I used my left over fabric to recover the ratty sail panels.

unfortunately the piece that is by the seatbelt on the t-tops has flown off with the tops off. The actual foam, so its not a matter of the fabric being ratty, it's that i have some of the headliner missing so recovering isn't an option unless someone has a suggestion for replacing the missing headliner piece.

I just ordered an ABS plastic when I was doing mine a couple of years ago, there is lots of options. I used Stock Interiors but waited until a big sale was on so got a good discount and free shipping at the time (Plus I got them to send free colour match samples first to check with my interior colour. Lots of companys out there, just have to decide on what suits you.

Biggest thing to remember is if your buying new to wait for a sale if possible and check your colour match.

Thanks, the ACME one from Amazon had free shipping which is what tempted me, but a lot of reviews complain about sag, hell they have "russet" for $88 bucks I believe mine to be briar brown. Stocks are $161 and $75 shipping.

Re: Headliner Replacement?
Get the fabric covered unit.
Any of the ABS replacements I have used/installed were ALL
ACME even tho they were bought from different suppliers.
Score the headliner with the free shipping because the box is so
big shipping alone is $50+.
Don't let the "purist/OE/fix the existing board zelots" scare you off the
ABS replacements.
They sure look better than the bare roof !

Re: Headliner Replacement?
ABS just seems like the way to go for the t top cars.
I tried fixing up my original headliner board that was broken into 4 pieces with fiberglass and putting fabric from joann fabrics on it but when it came time to install it i ruined it. I'll be going abs eventually.

Re: Headliner Replacement?
I have ABS with my hardtop car and it fits and looks fabulous (purchased from Hawks Motorsports).
However, the report from most T-top car owners is that the ABS headliners are poor fit. Many t-top owners try to salvage the original backing for this reason. Might be worthwhile trying to find a good "stock core" to restore if you are concerned with excellent fit/finish. It comes down to your own personal preference which way you go.

Re: Headliner Replacement?
Hey guys, another question in regards to this. I have the overhead console, all the installation directions I have seen are without the overhead install. I want to make sure I don't break anything during removal or install.
