Has anyone taken this type of seat apart for shipping? These are the type of seats that fill up with air and have air hoses running from bottom to top. I have someone who wants to buy the seats from me but I am worried about ruining them when taking them apart, I dont want to damage hoses or anything else in seats. Thanks for any help, I borrowed image hope the person who actually owns these seats does not mind
I have not had one apart, but I think it will basically require taking the entire seat apart. You also need a special tool to get the head rest out of the seat back. I made one out of a piece of thin sheet metal
You can separate the seatback from the bottom seat frame, two bolts on the recline (exit side) & the single bolt (console side).Access them by removing the seatback screws (bottom/top/middle, 2 ea), then the 2 screws on ea acordian piece. You dont necessarily need to remove these pieces, just pull them away to get the bolts out (seatback plastic removal requires separating the headrest). There's also two air lines you may have to disconnect.I would think separating the two halves would give you the best packaging to ship.Ive had these seats apart many times & currently have mine apart for a set track swap, but you shouldn't need the disassemble that far
