question re: floormats

Hi. I ordered custom floormats for my 91 Firebird base and they came with holes in them for safety anchors. I don't have any holes in my floor to put the anchors into. Does anyone else have a 91 Firebird with a V6? or know if they all did or didn't have floormats anchored to floor? if they made a mistake i can prob return them. Thanks

Re: question re: floormats

Pretty sure that no third gens ever had anchors for the floor mats from the factroy. Neither of my cars had them, and I've never seen one that did.

Re: question re: floormats

I think they have to send them for liability purposes. They sent a note along with mine to let me know they should be installed for safety purposes.

Re: question re: floormats

The Lloyds set that was in my car when I bought it had front mats with the holes. I didn't like those mats even they're very pricey to replace, so I bought a set of ACC floor mats - supposedly the ACC mats are identical to the original GM ones, just without the GM logo. No holes and I like them much better, fit is excellent.

Re: question re: floormats

All you need are the GM logos and glue them in place on the ACC Mats

Re: question re: floormats

Do not install the mat locks into your carpet. I purchased a set of floor mats for my 2006 Silverado, which didn't originally come with safety anchors. The new floor mats came with the anchors and I installed them thinking it was a good thing. You twist the anchor through the carpet and guess what? It puts a nice hole in the carpet!!! I won't be doing that again.
