I can manage, but darn if i can't figure out how to operate the dang headrest.
Operate? It only goes up and down. Plus it's not really a head rest, its more to prevent you from getting whiplash in the event of being hit from the rear.
And yes, Camaro seats suck. Get some GTA seats if you want a head rest
If you're trying to compare newer cars with the cars from the 80s, you'll find many issues like this. As was mentioned, the head rest isn't a head rest like you find in newer cars. It was there only to prevent whiplash. The brakes were nothing like the newer car's brakes and the electronics were very simplified, compared to today's cars. You need to accept the car for what it originally was. Otherwise, you'll find yourself in a new car.
Compare thirdgen seats to other 80's seats. Ever slid off the vinyl seats in a second gen? Or ridden the bench seats in countless family trucksters? Driving an hour or two on the standard buckets in my 86 Mustang, is a fate worse than death.
As noted, if you actually want to use the "headrest", you may have to get another seat.
Options for adjusting the seats, later years had manual seats that not only went forward and backwards, but tilted back, which makes a nice difference in comfort (not headrest thought) I picked up one of these manual tracks and it's nice...
If you're really tall, Knight Designs sell some brackets that will move the seat back further too... there may be a post on here about that...
1 option would be to convert it over to a 6 way power seat.I'm sure you will find a comfortable position with it.
I did this to my car and it was a big improvement. Not that difficult to do either. As for comfort, I never had an issue until I began to drive newer cars and expected to have that same type of comfort.

The four way manual seat track was nearly exclusively a Firebird feature from what I've seen. It's usually only used with cars that have one of the higher tier option packages, but it's also standard on the Trans Ams in some years.
Maybe it's just me, but I almost always set the 4way to the exact position of the standard manual tracks. LOL After a dozen thirdgens and two and half decades anything else just feels wrong.
