ACC carpets vs Stock Interior carpets

I see a lot of you guys have used ACC for your carpet but not many using Stock Interiors, I'm leaning towards Stock Interiors. Just wanted some feedback about either company.

It's all made by ACC and there are several distributors. I like to buy from http://automotiveinteriors.com .

I put ACC carpeting with mass backing in my car and like it, good quality and was a nice fit with the exception of a couple areas.

Checked out Automotive Interiors T.L. I like their price but they don't offer floor mats.

I compared ACC vs Stock Interiors price wise and for the same carpet (stye, color, and floor mats) Stock Interiors was $250 bucks cheaper.

I’m having a heck of a time getting my acc mass backed carpet to fit in my 85 ta had to widen the console cutout and I’m having a hell of a time getting it forward enough.ive built this whole car and this is one of the toughest jobs yet.i was wondering if I got the correct carpet.

Re: ACC carpets vs Stock Interior carpets

I put an ACC carpet in my 87 formula. Just ran into one problem. I just could not get it under the radio pod. So I split the carpet from the top of the console opening all the way and it ended up having two flaps. It was then easier getting it under the radio pod. The cut is under the console and the radio pod so you do not see it. Other than that it was a perfect fit. It does help to do this job when the weather is warm so you can lay the carpet out in the sun to soften it up. All in all , it took a full day.

Re: ACC carpets vs Stock Interior carpets

from my experience no carpet is going to just drop right in. There's a lot of trimming and making the console hole fit right. What I did was lay the new carpet out in the sun and then get all the shapes pushed out right. Then lay the old carpet on top of the new carpet and cut it out but cut it out to big that way you can make it fit perfect. My carpet from stock interiors was bigger in all directions which is to let you trim it perfectly

Rock Auto has the cheapest prices I've seen on ACC carpet. For the entire carpet set, with shipping, Stock Interiors (www.stockinteriors.com) is $116 and change higher than Rock Auto.

Weird.

Re: ACC carpets vs Stock Interior carpets

So is the factory style carpet the cutpile? I see there is a Essex line that is more plush but that is probably an upgrade over stock. The Essex with mass backing is around $400. I also have the rear locking cover so I would have to order some by the yard to cover that. I know you can do that with Stock Interiors. BOSE system too but I know I can get carpet for that too through Third Gen Ranch I believe it was.

Get all the carpet from the same place. If you buy it from different places, it will not look the same. Even carpet from the same manufacturer, made at different times will have shading and color differences. I ordered my carpet from 1A auto and asked them to have all the carpet cut from the same dye lot.

Re: ACC carpets vs Stock Interior carpets

Sorry to dredge up an old thread but to any that have purchased their carpet from Rockauto. Does the passenger cabin carpet come with new “loose fill” (jute) padding as well or is it only the carpet itself?

Re: ACC carpets vs Stock Interior carpets

Hi there,
Bought mine last year for a '91 Trans Am, and it had jute on the back, both passenger and driver side. Mine was the kind without the mass backing, just carpet and jute.

I bought the ACC from Rock auto for my 91 GTA and a different GM vehicle with the mass backing. Both came with the jute also

Hey, I'm about to order carpet for my Trans Am as well and I was leaning towards Rock Auto. I asked their support people if the essex carpet with mass backing has jute padding (none of their carpet listings seem to reference jute padding at all), and they basically couldn't answer for sure one way or the other. You ordered recently from rock auto and your mass backed carpet came with the jute padding? Did you get the cutpile or the thicker essex carpet?

Re: ACC carpets vs Stock Interior carpets

I got the Essex for my GTA years ago and it had the jute on the back. I more recently ordered the Essex for my 69 Suburban, two or three years ago, and it also had the jute.
Since it is ACC, you should just call them instead of Rock, as they are just a re-seller if you have questions.

It sounds pretty promising then. Contacting ACC to confirm is a very good idea, I’ll do that today. Thank you!

I just called ACC and they said it does include jute padding that will be loose in the box. I’ll be placing my order tonight!

My jute was always glued to the back, not loose, so if they do that now it is a change.
