i was reading a thread a few minutes ago that listed seats that you could use from other car. I got confused I. Whether it was a direct bolt on or if the rail and all that had to be replaced. The seats I have now the rail is gone and am in need of seats. Trying to find out what I can do. I know 4th gen fit perfectly with no modification. There is one at the local pull a part I’m going to try and grab tomorrow but there’s only one 4th gen and don’t know if the seats are still in it. So, I was looking at these cars the Pontiac 95-05 sunfire, grand am 85-98, cavalier 82-05. Does anyone know if these few cars are direct fit or require modification to fit in the car? I’m not trying to have to drill holes and all that to make them fit just trying to get seats that will fit right in. Thank you
If you have the original seat tracks from a 82-02 Camaro/Firebird, most other GM seats from the same era will bolt to the tracks in the car. If you don't have Camaro/Firebird tracks, you'll be fabricating. The tracks match the uneven nature of the floor, and the studs welded to the floor pan.
Yeah the tracks and all that are trashed just no good. When I looked there was only one bolt holding the seat in. The bolts are there just the seat track is not re usable. So what type of fabrication would I have to do? If I got say cavalier seats or so.
There's enough 4th gen F-bodies around that I'd just find a set of tracks from one, rather than try to fabricate a set. Since the seat simply bolts to the tracks, even if the seats are trashed, the tracks should still be good.
I'm running a 4th gen power seat in my '88, and a manual 4th gen track on the passenger's side. The only mod that was needed was changing the electrical connector on the driver side floor to accommodate the power track.
Any seat that is thinner and shorter will work if you fabricate your own brackets. Seats that are wide physically won't fit between the center console and door arm rest so hopefully you aren't over 240 lbs. Seats that are thick in the seat portion or sit higher on the sliders (fifth gen Camaro seats come to mind) will fit in the car but won't fit you comfortably unless your 5'9" or less. Here's an example and it's not unique to me as I'm 6'1" which isn't uncommon. When I would autocross I had to wear a helmet and I would want the seat upright but when I did that my head would hit the roof so I always had to remove the t tops.
Hello, I'm looking at getting some "R100" sparco seats, and i was just wondering if i'd have to buy new brackets, if I can use the old ones, or if i'd have to modify the old ones. I appreciate it
I want to swap the manual driver-side seat track onto a fourth-gen drivers power seat.
Is it a direct swap, or is there a trick to it?
I have no desire for a power driver seat.
The seat "cushions" should bolt right onto the tracks. I just did this mod in my Focus. I had some power/leather seats from an 03 SVT and I swapped the sliders for the manual ones to install the seats in my 2001 ZX3.
They do..my current 4th gen seat was on a manual 4th gen track, until I found a good power track. Only 4 13mm bolts hold it to the track, 3rd and 4th gen seats are identical.
Driver side is already in, pass side I started. I have a roll bar which has been nothing but a PITA since the car is only street driven now but I don’t have the heart to cut it out.
Its not an easy swap, only 1 front inner seat hole lined up and I’ve had to make brackets for the other 3. I ended up welding right to the seat frame/sliders.
They sit higher than stock and mt aftermarket seats but they are a million times better comfort wise and still feel “planted” in the seat. I’m 6’1” and I sit alittle high, probably 2” from the top of my head to the ceiling. Driver seat is power front and back and tilt with lumbar support. Pass seat is mechanical slider but power tilt and lumbar support.
Driver is left, middle is passenger, right is summit racing 5pt seat.
First pic, the left is driver Camaro seat, its higher but thats bc the guy yanked it in a higher position. When lowered its the same height as the pass side (middle Seat).
The driver seat came with the original seat belt clip attached but its smaller than the 4th gen so I couldn't use it. These seats are SUPER beefed up (not all that heavy) but since they use the seat as the attachment point for the belt they have to be anchored to support you during an accident. so the frames are beefy and thus not really needed as the stock 3rd gen/4th gen use the car body attachments for the seat belts. In your cars if you use the stock belts the seats only have to support themselves in an accident.
Overall the seats are much more comfortable than I expected, not surprising for a car thats only 7 yrs old (these had 51k on them when pulled). Feels like I'm getting into my 2018 ram now which is a big difference over my 5pt seats.
I am currently trying to find some of the leather g6 seats.
Hello there,
I am new to the forum and saw you were looking for G6 seats to put in. Did you find any and did they fit? Would be interested to hear how this played out. Thanks
