other seat optionw

i was wondering if anybody knows of other seats that will fit 3rd gen f-bodies. Other than 4th gen's obviously. Any facts would be nice thanks. My seats are crap they don't stay straight. They lean back and now i gotta prop them up on the edge of my back seat it sucks. I'm a big dood but i've sat in cars and drivin cars for quite some time now and only the crap seats in my 85 are wasted. Need options, i'm tired of replacing them.

Corvette seats fit, but don't lean back.

I've heard Fiero and Cavalier seats also fit, but that's just hearsay. Haven't seen it for myself yet.

Sparco seats are awsome :hail: but pretty pricey, check out http://www.sparcousa.com/ There are a couple other companies that make seats, Recaro is the only one I can think of right now.

I'm pretty sure the newer Grand Am seats will fit--mid 90's. They almost look like 4th gen seats--has the square headrests on htem. You might have to use your old T/A seat tracks--no biggie because it's held onto the seat itself w/4 bolts.

Corbeau, Recaro, and Sparco all make very nice seats. If you are willing to pay they can pretty much do anything you want. I'd recommend that you find someone with the seats you are looking at so you can at least sit in them before you decide to spend that kind of money.

Scott, how is the headroom with the Torinos. I'm looking into custom Milanos right now and I'm 6'3". I would like to fit comfortably if possible.

I am '6'4" and with using my factory seat brackets (minor modification required )I dont have any problem with headroom, the one thing you will need to get use to is the getting into your car diffrent, and sliding back into them, not a problem though,,Milanos are nice,,,and they come in leather too If you want to spend big bucks,,like $1400 each
And Maximus the center console is from a 2000 camaro.

I am sold on the Racing seats as well. My only problem is that
it looks like **** when you don't have matching front and rear
seats... It just looks bad IMO. I suppose you get the rear
seats custom sewed to match the front but that would be expensive!

I know you can use seats out of a 8o's and up grand am for sure. I took a pair out of an 89 gt and seat rails bolted up. the part #'s underneath matched up to. Also think sunbird seats work also, but haven't tried it. You can get these seat 30.00 a pair at a pick a part. Also if your willing to modify, you can get alot of seats to work. I just put a pair of Merkur XR4ti leather seats in.

Less Expensive solution?

I found a Sunbird GT Convertible with identical seats to the GTA's with all the bells and whistles in them. They were grubby but the upholstery was OK. I rented one of those Carpet cleaning machines, and used the upholstery tool on them and they look excellent. You have to swap the mounts from your F-body seats (4 bolts)

Total cost 58.00 seats
45.00 carpet machine

Plus I did my carpets in the car and the house, so the Girlfriend is all happy now, too. :-) (a new experience!)

Ebay

I bought a set of black and red velours from ebay. panels included (but were 4th gens wanna buy em?). Not too bad for ALL seats. 700 with shipping/ins. You can easily get nice regular seats from 200-400 dollars...depending on cloth or leather.
Take care!!
