Rear view mirror button
Can someone let me know what should be the stock rear view mirror button. I had a plastic one which was fixed with some sort of double sided tape but it is now lose on the mirror and so I need to replace it.
Should I get a metal one and glue it with the special adhesive or should I get a plastic one and fix it with double sided?
What did these cars come out with? I am afraid of the metal one as some windshields don't like the adhesive when it cures.

Metal is the stock material, i would go with that.Never seen the plastic ones.Ive used the mirror glue as well, never any bad effects, but the mirror did fall off eventually, some 5-6 years later.

Should be a metal button. There are two sizes that were used, and the mirror needs to match or vice-versa.
The trick to gluing the button to the windshield is getting everything clean. Haven't had to mess with it in a few years, but it used to be you could stop at most auto glass shops and they'd restick the rear view with the professional stuff free of charge. I've always just used the cheapo repair kits from the auto parts store, clean everything thoroughly, maybe lightly sand the stick-um side of the button, and follow the instructions.

What Drew said....use a metal one and make sure the area is super clean before you put the metal piece on. As I recall, the glue kit comes with a special cleaner/primer that you need to wipe on the glass before you install it.
