Steering column

Re: Steering column
Its not a direct bolt in. The snout that connects to the steering shaft is much longer on the 4th gen column.

Re: Steering column
The steering shaft is also different spline/size I think, I looked at possibly using one as I had a 2k donor car for the LS1 but decided it wasn't worth the effort. So I sold the steering wheel and kept the column just in case I wanted some of the electronics off it. I also looked at using the 4th gen steering shaft and that was a no go.
A lot of the electronics can be used, especially if doing a swap.
I've been looking and I think if I use the wiper controls from the 2k column and other parts then I can use a S10 wiper motor and have all the functions ... but haven't taken the plunge on that yet. The huge wiper motor is very tight with the LS1 engine.
If your column has play in the tilt adjustment though, you can take the steering wheel off and tighten two bolts and solve it. So unless someone tried to hotwire your car there is little reason to swap it.
