Driver side extension spring - anyone have a source

Think my fat arsh broke the spring. I need the big spring, the one with the mesh over it. For the manual, 4-way seat of a 1990 car. Anyone have a source one where to get such a specific extension spring? Or find suitable replacements?

Try a GOOD hardware store. Maybe these guys.

Below, Fastenal's extension springs.

McMaster Carr would probably have what you need, but you'll have to take some measurements to find something close.

Re: Driver side extension spring - anyone have a source

What spring are you talking about? The wire mesh that supports the seat bottom, foam?

Re: Driver side extension spring - anyone have a source

yes, I am asking about the spring that helps seat slide forward. that is pretty much its only job, makes the forward action a little smoother. it is the biggest extension spring under the seat, and it has a soft, plastic black mesh around its coil.

P.S. I did ask a local upholstery guy who does automotive interior everything. he said he didn't have a source. meeting with a general upholstery guy today who is doing some chairs for us, gonna ask him and give it a shot. never know.

I always wonder when I encounter a "Pro" who does not have a source, for something, that I KNOW I am not the only customer who would need the item!

Re: Driver side extension spring - anyone have a source

I'd check the F body suppliers, I would call it a "seat travel forward movement assist spring". Then with measurements, the hardware links provided. You should try to get a pound per inch of extension measurement, if possible. Or have all dimensions noted.

Re: Driver side extension spring - anyone have a source

Any front bucket seat in a GM vehicle from about 1977 until 2010 would probably have the same type of spring. I'm sure anyone with a thirdgen parts hord would have a few in a box somewhere. I'm sure I have several, but as usual it's not worth enough money to bother finding one, taking/editing/posting a photo, working out the best shipping, and opening myself up to the headaches of dealing with buyers.

God bless the small business, Mom & Pop cottage industry, used parts suppliers for dealing with all the lowballing and BS that comes with selling small items. I can't imagine anyone is getting rich off of the headaches incurred.

first, thank you for the blessing as we are a small mom and pop shop struggling each day. second, if you have a factory one you’d sell, and with the fuse panel accelerator thingy m job and one other bolt i’d be happy to pay and not bitch as long as they are factory correct and restorable. let me know
