Signal light canceling issue. 3rd gen camaro.

Next issue... My signal light cancel Mech doesn’t work correctly. The right signal turns off super quick with very little steering wheel turn while the left one doesn’t shut off automatically until you really turn the wheel past what would be an average left turn so I constantly have to click it off manually after a left turn, while the right cancels too quickly. I’ve taken it apart and replaced the springs and plastic cam with one from amazon with the same results.
Any suggestions?

More than likely the steering wheel was isnt clocked correctly to the steering shaft. Do you have the non airbag type w/ the six torx holding it to the hub?

its an 86, no airbag. Not sure about anything else. I’ve had the wheel off to see if I could figure it out. That’s the extent of my knowledge.

Likely a broken spring for the turn signal switch. There are 2 of them and they cost only 2 dollars each. Easy to install as well...

nope, I replaced both springs. Like I said, the turn cancel works both left and right. It’s just that the left one won’t auto cancel without major turning of the wheel, while the right one will turn off with only a very slight turn like a lane change. What I’m really needing is a way to compromise between the 2, but I did not see any way to make any adjustments.

Re: Signal light canceling issue. 3rd gen camaro.

With everything correct, wheels pointing straight ahead & steering wheel correct w/ middle spoke at 6 o'clock the signal will cancel at the same degree when the steering is returned back to center.
If someone removes the wheel & doesn't put it back the same way (because you have six torx evenly spaced). You are then driving with the steering wheel off center. When the wheel is corrected so the middle spoke is at 6 o'clock the car will drive off to one side.
Sometimes people "fix" the alignment so the vehicle drives straight, at this point the steering wheel will not be clocked correctly when driving straight ahead ( even though your steering wheel looks correct), so when you turn in one direction it requires more steering input than in the other to cancel the signal upon return to center.
l'm thinking this is probably what is the case with your canceling issue.

Could be the case, from what I remember there is not much for options on how the wheel goes on. Unfortunately I just had a wheel alignment done. Let’s say I can move my wheel over a notch or 2, how would one adjust the steering again so the Steering wheel is straight again? Thanks.

I would remove the torx screws from the wheel & turn it clockwise maybe one or two holes over. Re-install the torx screws, re-center the wheel back & try the signals again. You want to fix that then do the alignment again.
Have you checked the tie rods btw? There's 2 per side, they should roughly have an equal amount of threads showing. I'm guessing the dr. side has fewer than your pass side. This is where the alignment needs adjusting to correct your steering.

The steering wheel itself can be installed on a different spline, but the canceling Mechs does not change and is in a fixed position so I can’t see the steering wheel position not making a difference here. Am I missing something?

Re: Signal light canceling issue. 3rd gen camaro.

Stock steering wheel has no splines, they're on the hub.Which yes, can only go on one way due to the flat spot on the splines. It also has a hole for the canceling cam "tube" that connects the horn wire.So both those parts only fit one way, but the wheels has multiple positions since the 6 torx bolts are evenly spaced apart.Up to this point i assumed you have a stock wheel. Since i asked and you responded saying nothing about aftermarket.Which if you do have one, is anyones guess.
